Saturday February 24th 2024 - 43rd Duck Mountain Loppet

 

Registration & Fees

    • Registration will be done online at http://zone4.ca
    • Payment will only be by credit card.
    • A small online service fee will be added by Zone4. 
    • Registration fee (includes race swag, great draw prizes and a hot meal)
    • $37 for Adults who are members of any ski club ($42 for non-ski club members)
    • $15 for Youth (16 and under) who are members of any ski club ($20 for non-ski club members)
    • $10 for Jackrabbits (under 10)
    • NEW this year is a $3.00 Mandatory Nordiq Canada insurance fee for all participants 
    • Meal only (non-participant) – $20 ($10 for youth)

    Other Information:

      • Loppet begins at the Madge Lake Golf Course in Duck Mountain Provincial Park. There is no mass start. There is no running water on site. We encourage all participants to be self-sufficient with nutrition and appropriate clothing.
      • Check-in: All participants must check in at the Log Inn shelter in the golf course parking lot between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
      • Check-out: Participants must check out at the Log-Inn shelter by 4:00 p.m. It is at this time you will recieve your meal ticket, swag and draw prizes. This is to ensure we can account for all participants at day’s end.
      • There is a “new and improved” heated outhouse at the Log Inn shelter!
      • Trails
      • View specific course maps at https://www.duckmountainnordicclub.ca/trails. In general, all the trails are skied “clockwise”. We recommend you download or print a copy of your applicable distance map as only a limited supply will be available at check-in.
      • Skate Trail Options:  5, 10, 15 and 20Km.
      • Classic Trail Options: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40Km.
      • Although an intermediate distance, the new 25Km classic course is being described as a “physical challenge” as it will include the physical and technical trails of Batka Major and Tamarack.
      • For the distances of 10, 30 and 40km, the golf course loop will be included at the end if time and energy permits!
      • The entrance to Tamarack will be closed at 12:45 p.m. and the entrance to Rundle Lake will be closed at 2:00 p.m. to ensure all skiers and volunteers are off the trails by 4:00 p.m.
      • There are 5 manned shelters on the trail system: Jackrabbit Junction, Moose Lake, Tamarack, Ski Hill, Rundle Lake. Snacks, water and our famous Duck Mountain Dew will be available at all the shelters. Each of these sites has an outhouse.
      • Jackrabbit Junction will host our hot dog/marshmallow stand for the kids.
      • Meal: A hot meal is included with registration fees at the Rec Hall. 
      • Doors open at 3:30, buffet to start shortly thereafter and served until 5:15 (ish)
      • Prizes
      • Prizes can be collected upon check-out.

      • Parking: Parking is available on site at the Madge Lake Golf Course. Overflow parking is available across the road at the Rec Hall.
      • Schedule Summary:
      • 8:30 a.m. – registration and trails open
      • 11:00 a.m. – registration closes
      • 3:30 p.m. – Rec Hall doors open
      • 4:00 p.m. – all skiers should be off the trails
      • 5:15 p.m.  – Meal service ends
      • Don’t forget to check out at the Log Inn shelter when you come off the trails
      • Enjoy your day. Remember you are in coyote country. Always ski with someone slower than you!
